"To us, trips feel like we're out doing the things we love with a group of good friends and that's exactly how it is at Hidden Valleys."
- Grant South (Southy)
Best rafted in the morning over a two to three hour period, the river in this area is Grade 1, flat and braided. It is the perfect way to experience the seldom seen high country from a rarely seen perspective. In the summer months, fishing for trout and salmon is popular.
This section of the river takes two to three hours. The trip starts with flat water ideal for the safety brief, practise and training. The rapids start at Grade 2 and slowly build up to the two main Grade 4/5 rapids and finish with great play rapids on the way to the take-out.
There are several points along the river where it is suitable to start or finish, so we can put personalise a trip that best suits your needs and time schedule.
The river travels over an open riverbed with a few boulder garden rapids, and lots of waves.
Wherever you choose to start and finish your trip, you’re only a short drive away from the Peel Forest Camping Ground, store and café.
